Truth or myth?

I came across an article the other day saying the more "matte" you go, the more oily your skin will be. I can't decide whether this is true or not, because I know for a fact that if you use harsh cleansers and astringents that strip your oil off you will guarantee more oil to your skin. But if you use "matte" foudations, "mattifying primers" "matte setting Powders" & "matte setting sprays" does it really make your skin oily too? I was wondering if someone could give me an answer... :)
Thanks beauties!

That's a myth. What isn't a myth is the fact that if you try and combat oily skin with lack of moisture (not moisturizing after washing your face, stuff like that) that will cause your skin to freak out and produce more oil.

Mattifying makeup products won't cause your skin to over produce oil as long as you are sufficiently moisturizing your skin.
