I'm too young to actually get involved in this career just yet, so I'm just wondering what exactly you have to do to become one (e.g do you have to go to uni? Things that would be good to know.). What could I do to prepare myself for that career. Sorry if this doesn't really make sense, I know what I'm trying to say I just don't know how to say it.

Practice, practice, practice and do your research and find a school that's heavy in makeup. Some other ladies on here said that cosmetology school literally does no makeup. They focus more on hair but they do have schools and everywhere that are specifically makeup. Just have to do your research and find one near you.

I'm too young to get involved too, but Antonia on here left a really helpful comment when I asked a similar question! I'm just going to repeat a few things she said to me.
- she told me to practice a LOT and nail a few signature looks, for example a smoky eye, a natural eye look, bold lips, etc.
-she also told me to know how to fit the look into the occasion and how to best glam the customer up for what they're there for, for example: bridal makeup, a girl wearing makeup for the first time, makeup for a night out, etc.
- the last thing she told me is to start an instagram account and to put things on there to start a portfolio. take pictures of clients before and after!
I'm 14 but I've already gotten recruited by the musical director at my high school to do makeup on a team of all seniors and I'm supposed to do makeup for some bridesmaids next month! Many of the best mua's I know are self taught too. Good luck! (:

Also practicing face charts and applying to makeup counters or drugstores as soon as you can helps. Hope this was helpful!

PRACTICE, slowly build a kit with good brands.. I would personally say buy as little mac products as possible. there are sooooooooooooooo many different brands to experience. like lime crim, occ, sugarpill, etc. of course stay up to date on industry artist like sam fime, pat magrath, kevin quan.. keep your nose in magazines and learn trend patterns.. tutorials!!! PRACTICEEEEEEEEEEEE TO BLEND!! BE A BLENDING QUEEN! LOL and most of all make sure you enjoy it. you will grow so much more and faster when your simply enjoying yourself. oh learn skin care and good foundation routines. you'll notice then better you get the more your foundation routine changes if you haven't already.. and of course find the best school for you and get certified! certification will make a difference.
