Im a college student but im not in beauty school. Makeup is side interest of mine and I would love to work at sephora but im not sure about the whole process. if i just wanna be a sales associate there do i still have to have gone to beauty school or be able to do other people's makeup? i can do my own makeup but not really others'. also i see a lot of girls that work in sephora with crazy looks on and all these colors i wouldnt usually wear. im more neutral with my eye looks. can i still work there?

I just started at Sephora in October. I've found out myself & heard from other employees/managers the best way to get your foot in the door at Sephora is getting hired seasonal for the holidays. If they really like you & see you work hard, they keep people on as permanent employees. There are actually a lot of employees at my Sephora who started out seasonal. You don't have to have beauty experience, but retail experience is a plus. For makeup, wearing makeup is part of your uniform. You have to have 2 eye shadow colors or eyeliner (very visible) & mascara, something on your skin, blush, and some color on your lips. There are certain makeup looks Sephora promotes, and it's important that employees wear them to make the customers want to create the look themselves. But basically, if you wear next to nothing makeup - Sephora isn't for you. There are plenty of neutral eyes in the looks that Sephora creates, but you can make them pop with more noticeable hues & lip colors. Hope this helps!
