Hi Mikki,Do you happen to Tag your photo's when you upload them? What also helps is if you follow people they follow you back and if they're on the site they can click on Notifications and then go to the Recent Activity Tab and click on that they can see update pic's or discussions from whom they follow then in turn choose to like a pic from that person.What can help you on that is to like your own pic and then they see what you liked and so on.As for popularity that is debatable it's really about the gift of the GAB here with some, they just go on and spread what they have learned from being on this site and it passes on like telephone lol .So Just be you and interact with everyone and in time things start rolling into play. Share your thoughts on products and share your looks with Content to involve the community and If your an Inspiring MUA share your experience's.Hope this helps,Have a wonderful day & Stay Beautiful! Amelia, I'm not popular lol I'm just doing my contribution to the world of Beauty here on Beautylish and share my experience of the Art. I see all of you everyday and how much you all try to help each other out and whether you all realize it or not all your faces and names are imprinted in our moderator minds and we see so many grow here and I think the community needs to give themselves more credit for what they have done.We have seen so many that had join BL and knew close to nothing about makeup to now spreading what they have learned (Gift of the Gab)soon enough you'll see it. I say be true to you no matter what and it's easier just to comment on things you truly know about and can pass on to help because just by reading an answer to something and notice it truly is coming from experience versus looking like cut and paste,will get people to hear you out.

You probably shouldn't use this site for popularity reasons- it's more about sharing your experiences, trying out new looks and sharing them with other members, helping each other. Of course it's nice to get feedback on your photos (try tagging them and take photos where you can clearly see your look not just "normal" selfies) but it's not the main reason why you should be here :).

Not going to lie, I am popular here. I can't ignore the fact that I have 1,300 followers and I've been here since August. But the thing is; being popular shouldn't be the intention. I was so surprised by all the love I received. To be honest, I'm a lonely Nelson in my everyday life so I spend all my time making friends here on BL. I enjoy being able to talk to people with the same passion for beauty.That's the key. Make friends, socialize here in the forums. Your personality will shine and people will take notice. Reply to comments and posts. Share your knowledge as well as interact with other users. That's my favorite part. Getting pic likes is fine, but that's just numbers. the real value is in the relationships you cultivate here in the forums. I can seriously say that I get so much love from BL. It's the most amazing place in the world.

I agree with you, Symone. I feel the same way. I'm not that popular, I'm quite a newbie here but still I received so much love and positive feedback that it made me feel more confident about myself. It's just that everyone is being nice to me, giving me helpful tips, giving feedback on my work etc. I'm quite a lonely person in real life, which is mainly because it's really hard for me to make friends, maintain friendships and interact with strangers in general. It's easier on the web. I feel more secure being at home on my computer writing e-mails than being at some social event. I never go to parties, I spent most of my time alone . This is more about internet "fame" in general. I'm active in a few online communities that support my different interests and made friends there but most of my long term e-mail friends are quite lonely and antisocial in real life, too. People might notice me on the internet because I don't appear as a social retard there lol. That's why I feel so comfortable here. Everyone is being nice to everyone (there are only few exceptions).
That's quite offtopic now but it's still worth mentioning imo.

I'm with you Symone! I honestly don't have any friends not even 1! All I have is my family in my real life and you guys which I also look at as family! Lol and I'm perfectly ok with it because when I come on beautylish I see all of you as my friends so I am truely blessed for that :)
