How do you get jobs when you're constantly promoting yourself..im always posting my prices but yet to get any jobs.. i have some pictures but not alot..so wat can i do for both hair and makeup promotional wise
I have the same issue I always get contacted for TFP work and I am only doing selective of it right now. I have done promotions etc but I don't post my price list and still no response. Too many of them want to bargain or waste my time so I don't work with them simple. Plus some of the clients always think your prices are higher than the other makeup artist whereas I think what in offer is reasonable compared to those who charge about 2x than me
i totally agree idk what we are doing wrong im even creating contracts to be more professional i do gigs for my sister when shes modeling think ill get pictures this time and post them because i would love to be doing weddings pageants and more
It's a consistent thing you have to do. Promote. Promote. Promote. Do you have a facebook fan page? Website? Are you passing your card out to everyone that comments on how pretty your makeup looks? Wedding Wire profile? The Knot?
You have to keep up with it. I do have my prices listed on my site because I don't want cheap brides. If they know they can't afford me, they don't bother, good me, less stress. lol
Thanks I have a pending approval on mywedding.com and hope that gets approved. I have my prices now listed on the site too. Yep have a facebook page and I always take the time to promote myself whenever I see women commenting on my makeup or how I did my makeup.
unfortunately all mua have to start the same way...doing free work until you've built up a professional portfolio to present to an agency. if u have a portfolio then u should try the agency route they'll find work for u. but your portfolio must be 100% no error from the cover to back literally. good luck!
Hey Lynn! My advice to you is that you not only promote directly to potential clients but also to photographers, event planners, bakers, ect. Anyone that is in the wedding business that can help you find jobs. Also, make sure you get a website going but only use professional photos that are your best work. To achieve such photos you should try to hook up with models and photographers and unfortunately offer your services for no pay but photos instead. Since your sister is in the modeling industry then she should be able to hook you up with some photographers. Hope this helps!
If you can do something that not many-no MUA's are doing, you'll get more business. I recently applied my art skills to my makeup application. Now for clients i make them costum face charts in addition to doing their makeup. No one as far as I know does this, and people LOVE it!
Business cards are great!
Start with people you know & branch out from there..start taking pictures of ALL of your work & build a hard copy portfolio, also a virtual one (this site is perfect)
You can make free business cards are Vistaprint.com
:)

Although I'm stuck on business cards I see a lot of pple with their picture on them however Idk how to go about doing that with making it look attractive as well..
I think using pictures is kind of tacky personally.. I just recently made my own & am happy with the way the turned out!
You wanna keep it clean & simple.. Everyone has there own style & preference!
