I would say use a warm rag and then ice and then a very strong spot treatment, and lol don't use toothpaste ;)

I don't break out very often but when I do, and its a surface zit, I'll dab on a retinol cream, I know...I'm a big fan of the retinols. But, if the zit is cystic, the under the skin painful bump kind that never forms a head, I don't use anything topical. I'll just take some Advil as directed for 24hrs. It minimizes the pain swelling & redness because it is an anti-flammatory as well as a pain reliever. For me, it will usually stop the progression of the zit & start healing before getting worse then healing. I'm not saying this will work for everyone everytime. But the friends I have recommended it to says it works about 90% of the time. But, the friends I have recommended it to don't really have an acne problem. Maybe one breakout a month. This may not help with truly acneic skin. Just what works for me & my occasional zit.

Advil liquid gels (just break it open) and cover with a bandaid or do the same with cortizone (I think the gel/ointment works better than the cream and I have some with aloe that works good.

And I also have super sensitive skin and those two never give me trouble. But I even have it on right now (cortizone) and it already looks better than it did

Aloe vera (in bottle) has also worked for me too.

Polysporin that is all not expensive you probly have this in your house put it on your zit maybe cover it in a brandade. This works every time so try it. I do this and all it does is it help with the healing process of the zit. So pop and then put some on!
