How would I do this hairstyle? Especially the waves and that because my hair is long straight and thick so curls usually drop quick

Well what I would do to get the waves is.after washing your hair, put into braids than take them out the morning after so their dry. Than what the girl did was just put a messy French braid and left some pieces hanging out.
