I was thinking about curling only four inches up from the bottom.. Would that look ok? Like curling only the bottom half? Thanks!

Yea it looks great if you wana look for the bohemian type of look with loose curls/waves. I did my hair like that for my graduation last year and I got a lot of compliments :)
