It's fine if you need to, but most people say it can make your hair (specifically roots) oily. Especially if you already have oily hair.

I slAther my hair in conditioner. Though I don't apply it to my scalp. Pretty much 3/4 of the length of my hair is conditioned.

I agree with Nala. If I use conditioner on my scalp my hair gets too oily.

I would only do it from about the top of your ears down. Otherwise, (from my personal experience) my hair gets super greasy and thick with product to the point where it feels super heavy and is hard to put up in a ponytail because it's not soft but greasy.
