Hard Candy has a great concealer

Concealer is good but you will most likely need to use something really dark and orangey maybe with concealer and then cover it up with your normal color. Blend.

Do a search on Pinterest! I saw something on there once stating to cover the black of your tattoo- I can't remember what- maybe lipstick?? As to hide the black and then put concealer over it. Hard Candy glamoflauge is awesome. I haven't tried Kat Von D concealer but you might want to check it out,??

You cannot put any type of covering makeup etc on until it's healed!!! I have a HUGE black tattoo across my chest. When I want to cover it I put light layers of sally Hansen leg makeup on it with an extremely light touch of Makeup Forever HD Powder between each layer and no one that doesn't already know me knows I have one! You cannot tell at all :) I would suggest a liquid makeup that exactly matches your skin and lots of THIN layers and setting powder, also let completely set/dry before adding an additional layer. Hope that helps!

@Alisa D the Sally Hansen leg makeup is the best product that ever came out. Youre right it does provide good coverage. i never thought about applying it on my tat. i have to try that :)

They take a couple of weeks to heal

If you're so concerned about how soon you can cover up a tattoo, why do you want to get one? Or why get it in a spot where you need to cover it so often?

I agree with Victoria. If you want to cover it up before you even get it, what's the point? People should get tattoos that express who they are or things they like, they're ideals or things personal and close to them. They shouldn't be things you'd want covered.

I agree with you both but my mom would kill me if she saw it, and I hear that the wrist isn't as painful as the foot and the ribs.

Kaitlyn, maybe hold off on a tattoo until you reach a point in your life where your mom's opinion won't matter as much. Of course you'll always care what she thinks, but if she's still paying the bills, you do have to respect her wishes a whole lot more. My parents hate tattoos and I got 5 while still living at home. After my last one my mom said that if I wanted to get more, I had to respect her and my dad's opinion and not be living in their house if I wanted to "deface my body" any further. So my advice to you isn't to look for a coverup, but instead either wait or not get the ink to begin with. You need to let your tattoos heal completely and slathering concealer all over a fresh piece is just going to lead to it not healing properly. And yeah the wrist isn't as painful as the foot or ribs (I have both feet tattooed and they hurt for weeks afterward) but if you can't stand pain perhaps a tattoo is not the best choice for you.

Dermablend concealer!

Nov 30, 2012

Natalie T.

I heard Dermablend works well, as Giana suggested, but I have never tried it myself. I have tried hard candy's glamoflauge concealer on a tiny line drawing on my arm, and it did no work very well. I was just playing around then, I wasn't really trying hard to actually cover it(just curious). My only tattoos are small enough to cover with bandaids (or rings for the tattoos on my fingers). I either wear long sleeves or cover them with bandaids since my parents don't agree with FUNDING my tattoos(mine were free). I can appreciate that because tattoos are so expensive, and I don't pay my bills-all my money comes from my parents. I suggest wearing jewelry to cover it up or long sleeves or just waiting until its an appropriate time to get a visible tattoo.

Hun, you seem so young. If you're underage, PLEASE wait. I'm more concerned over you going behind your parent's back & doing this rather than what concealer will help cover it up.

Tattoos can take weeks to heal up, so you wont even be able to cover it at all. Not even with a long sleeve because it can pull the ink out. It just sounds like an all around bad idea. I'm sorry to judge, but it's a little bit concerning.

I have a tat on my wrist. Covering it is kinda hard because its mostly black. Honestly I wouldn't get your tat until your old enough to do it and live on your own and your parents don't rule the choices you make. It takes up to two months for a tat to completely heal based on body type, and as well as after care. If you cover it to soon you could ruin the art on your body. I've only covered mine once for an interview. And that was super difficult to do. I recommend waiting not a product. Wait until you can make the right choice. Tats are there forever. If you have to remove it, it hurts way more then getting it. And yes you've heard they don't hurt on the ribs foot or wrist but they do hurt. My wrist hurt but not nearly as bad as my ribs. Here's a shot of my wrist tat so you have an idea why mine is hard to cover. Lotta black and swirls. Wait hon.

Yeah healing seems like its a hassel, my best friend has amazing tattoos, and got the most recent addition to her sleeve in June. She lightly bumped her arm on a table or some counter surface and the whole face of the pin-up girl she got was completely ruined! I think she is still waiting for a proper amount of time before it can be "fixed." If just pumping your tattoo too soon can ruin it, I don't know what the makeup reacting to the skin and ink will do as Lori had said

I don't live at home anymore but i know my mom wouldn't be happy about me getting a tattoo even though i am almost 21. I'm still thinking about it and all so i may get it somewhere she can't see it or not get one at all but this is what i was thinking about getting.

Pff, no offense but how stupid to say why get a tattoo if you just have to cover it up? We live in a pretty professional world and tattoos aren't really completely a part of that yet. Don't EVER limit yourself to a tattoo because you have to cover it up. I have a full sleeve, a thigh piece, and numerous tattoos all over my body and I work at a preschool where I have to hide them. So the hell what? Hiding tattoos really isn't THAT big of a deal. Get what makes you happy!
