I have pin straight hair and got a loose perm in high school. I had it curly for a bit and then maybe after a week I straightened it and it totally ruined the perm. Like I could still kinda curl it and it helped my hair hold curls from heat a little bit better, but I had to put so much product in it to make it hold as 'naturally' curly. That's just because there were pieces that were straight after I used heat to straighten it one time. So I just want to warn you that if your hair doesn't take well to curls and you still want to be able to have variety with it it and use heat to straighten it sometimes, it might not keep and might be more of a hassle. It's also quite damaging to do a perm with all the chemicals they use. However I have seen some nice perms, it just did not work out for me. :/ If I were ever to do a perm again I would go all out in hopes that it would just stay better. Hopefully that made sense and is helpful to you!
