Can anyone give me any tips on what to wear, props, poses? I'd really appreciate the help! One of my outfits is going to be my prom dress, one will be more casual with a black crop top and a blue tank top with dark blue jeans, and I wanted one of my props to be a black rose just to have something different! Any tips for me ladies? I get three outfits and like 40 poses and I have no idea what to do!

Okay, this is like the 10th post I've seen about senior portraits, so if you don't mind me asking, what are they? What purpose do they serve?

They're the pictures that go into the year book. One section is the relaxed section, which is what she is asking about. The parents can buy all of the pictures that are taken, so it's just essentially another school picture. But then they take the year book pictures, and the pictures with the cap and the gown.

My high school must be really boring because we only did the cap & gown pics lol. don't worry about poses, just be yourself and if you need help the photographer will tell you how to pose.

Well I am homeschooled so my Senior pictures won't be going into the year book but my family wants some so I'll be doing senior pictures. For mine, I decided to do a black and white theme with a pop of purple, I'll be holding purple roses and my lips will be purple. I don't really know what tips to give you. My mom is the photographer so she will tell me what poses to do.

Huh. That must be a big school thing. My high school had one picture per person, in whatever clothing you wanted, and that's it. We didn't wear caps and gowns at any point, and the senior section was done by the parents, if at all.

Hannah, they're just a lot of pictures. It's like an hour modeling session. You get about 20 finished portraits out of it and they're used in yearbooks and for graduation notices and your grandparent's hallway and everywhere else. They're a big deal and required by my school. I'm really self conscious though and honestly think it's a waste of money for me, that's why I'm asking for help. My mom's insisting on the "memories" so I'm trying to make the best of it! :)

Ugh, I understand. That seems like a pain in the butt. At least for me, because I have no idea what a graduation notice is, my grandparents wouldn't frame pictures like that ever, and I can't imagine being forced to do a photo shoot. But you will look great just act like it's any other picture :)

Wow, they have nothing like this in England! Wear what you're comfy in, it'll show in the picture if you're uncomfy. Do natural poses, don't bend over backwards to do a pose you're not comfy in, again it will be obvious in the picture if you aren't comfortable.

Yeah I just don't know what poses will look good you know? All of my picture experience comes from Americas Next Top Model XD.

Anything natural. Think of poses you do with your friends, like when you turn around to talk to them. How you naturally sit when you're sitting on a couch or chair. Natural everyday poses look best.

For my senior portraits I went with something that I enjoy and feel comfortable in! I did a highwaisted leather skater skirt with 5 inch suede pumps and a marvel comics t shirt. That's one of my favorite outfits that I feel confident in and shows my personality! You should do something that shows who you are, even if you only see a little bit of the outfit! I actually get 3 sets of senior pictures (I hate getting pics take...) since I'm graduating from high school and with my AA degree at the same time. So I get normal senior portraits with causal wear, a cap and gown for high school, and a cap in gown with all the honors chords for the community college. It's such an involved process and it's not even close to being over! Is rather focus more on the last year of my education than my pictures! XD hope you find an outfit and get some very beautiful pics!

Also,
My phone totally forgot to post the rest of my advice :/ *facepalm* do whatever feels natural in terms of possess! If you want props I'd bring something that matches the outfits you're wearing or that match your personality... For example my props are my favorite book and my sonic screwdriver. These pics are about celebrating YOU and your accomplishment! Make your personality shine through! :)
