Hair dye help!

So I have dark brown hair and used Garnier light golden brown which should of lightened my hair but did nothing at all. I really want a golden color but I don't know what dye to use that actually works. please help!

Did that have bleach or lightener in it? If so it should've lightened it at least a little. Maybe you need to leave it on for longer?
