Did you do it yourself? Also what kind of wax was used.

Don't use any oils, it seems like an allergic reaction. You need to see a doctor for those.

Waxing is a huge part og my job... I consider my self a bit of a wax queen. That being said... that looks a bit off.

Several factors can cause this... and no, that kind of bumping five days later is not normal.
Was it done professionally?
If so, the skin should have been prepped with a toning solution to remove bacterias
Gloves should have been worn
Wax should have been slighty warmer then skin temp
Soft wax can only be applied once in each area
Hard wax three
Oil or powder is used under wax before waxing
Applicators are single use, applied with hair growth
No double dipping

Bumps can happed if hair breaks under skin
Bacteria gets in open follicle
Youve sweat, been exposed to heat, oil, hot show 24hours after wax
Swimming 24hours after wax is a no no too
No saunas eitger, or gym/excerise for 24 hours

Use which hazel, ans keep area dry

If a pro did that, bitch your butt off... I've never seen that happen. At very least she should offer you free high frequency treatment to heal it

I'm betting wax was too hot, or not clean... but thats a guess.

Hydrocortizone, used lightly, 2 per day, for 2 to 3 day should help.

Yeah, I'm with Amy on too hot or not clean. :(
Don't go cheap on your waxing, ladies. Also, a good salon/spa hurts less.

Whoa!! I've been waxing my arms at home for several years and not once have I experienced nothing like that. Nor have I had that going to a pro. Any waxer that tells you that is perfectly normal needs to get their head examined and retake waxing 101. That place you went to sounds like it might be a cess pool for nastiness. Staph infection central. Yikes. Glad to know visiting that place is your first and last time. :(

Shelley, what do you use to wax at home? I'm thinking of doing it but I'm scared! I can handle facial waxing but arms are a whole new ball game.

I have been waxing clients for 15 years and it's not always pore conditions some people are to sensitive to the wax and no matter how clean and professional the place is they will get a breakout after they must use sensitive skin wax and unless the place specialize In waxing they don't have a variety of wax to choose from only one kind so I would go to a salon were waxing is there main bussiness

That's very true Traci. I forgot about that possibilty.

@Bree...its a honey based wax that my husband made for me. Before I started with that one I was getting one from Sally's that contains honey as well that came in a metal tin that fit the warmer that I have ( also from Sally's). For the life of me I can't remember the name of it but the container is cream colored with yellowish/brown writing. I also use it with muslin cloths. I follow the method that Amy listed above. Cost per use I save so much money doing it myself.

I dunno traci, those bumpies are srtange. If it wasnt the wax, it was the after care. Or the waxer didnt pull at proper angle and broke hair under skin. Or the skin was too dry to wax. Reguardless, a professional waxer with that kind of end result is odd. I've never seen anything like that... except first time bikini area, with course hair... that didnt follow home care.

Of course it's rare but,I have two clients that can't be waxed at all even with the sensitive wax there skin flares up so I only tweeze there brows and that's happened to them there whole lives, but I agree could be a number of things that cause that.

Yes I agree with traci it isn't about if they are clean I am extremely cautious and clean and I have one client who no matter what breaks out even from sugaring her skin is just so sensitive
But you never no it could be an allergic reaction or from uncleanliness there are so many reasons it could have happened

Traci is definitely right. I get those whenever I wax. I put an oil on them (I use a homemade oil my moms friend makes, I don't know what it is lol) and let it soak in, then wash with a gentle cleanser a few hours later. They only last 2-4 days when I do that. But the first time I waxed my eyebrows, happened to be two days before my sisters grad (tons of professional photos were taken that night) and those bumps were there for a week. I went to the doctor and he just was like "well, you've got extremely sensitive skin don't you?" And gave me basically double strength reactine and recommended trying soothing creams. Oatmeal masks help too.

Oh and the homemade oil is a mix of natural oils, I don't know the mix, but it's diluted so it somehow doesn't break me out.

Are there any alternative method for hair removal that you ladies recommend? waxing obviously is to harsh for my skin, Nair burns, & I hate shaving because it needs to be done every other day
