Hey guys.
I just started using a Tretinoin gel acne medication ( also know as retin-a ) and my skin almost looks worse... Have any of you been on this medication? Any advice for being on this medication/ dealing with acne in general?
Thanks guys 💗

How long ago did you start using it? With a lot of acne medications & treatments it usually gets worse before it gets better. It takes a while to see results, so just be patient & don't get discouraged. Make sure you use a good moisturizer and stay hydrated from the inside out. Always wear sunscreen and try not to spend too much time in the sun anyway (this is coming from a girl who had to walk around with a lovely blister on her cheek for a week because she forgot about sunscreen on a camping trip...not the best time I've ever had!). And maybe this was just my sensitive skin but I would recommend getting your brows threaded or waxed while using the gel. It made my skin so thin and when I did get a wax it pulled off some of my skin with it, even though I never applied it underneath my brow. Here are some tips on the emotional side of acne: The last line read "Don't use your acne as an excuse to not pursue confidence."
Hope this helped! x

Yes I definitely agree with the gentle wash, it can be very irritating if you're using a harsh wash. Also use a gentle moisturizer with it, as this can cause the tretinoin to be irritating as well.

I had cystic acne on my face. One pimple looked like it had 5 in one. It was terrible. my derm put me on spironolactone & aczone. I don't even break out during my menstrual period. I'm so happy.

Well I have the cream and it works well with my zits. Not sure if the gel is any different or not, but you will have to give it time. I also had a prescribed cream wash from Panoxyl it helped my stubborn acne a lot. My skin did look like it was worse when using them but after 3 months my acne is gone. Of course I call bullshit on the when my derm told me the cream evens out my skin tone.
