I think for balayage it's separate strands that have that subtle transition from dark to light like the picture below. It looks like ombre but I personally like the change. The picture below has the two hair coloring techniques side by side.

That doesn't look like balayage at all to me lol. call them or go in & show them a picture of what you actually wanted & see if they can have someone fix it for you. you paid money to get what you want, so go back & get what you really wanted. don't be afraid to complain lol. I'm sure it wasn't cheap & it's not your fault the stylist messed up. hope you get what you want! :)

I changed my mind with that second pic. That really isn't a good dye job... :/ you need to go back and tell them that what they did is not what you asked for. Instead of having them do it again I'd try to get my money back and find another salon. It kind of looks like ombré but it's a very abrupt change...

You need to go back and tell them they need to fix it. They didn't do a very good dye job on it. If you don't like it make them fix it. Do not be afraid to tell them how you actually want it and you want them to fix it. You paid for something that you didn't want.
