I really want to dye my hair either,
ā€¢blue
ā€¢green
ā€¢purple
I want to know your experiences with the fading of these dyes? Some dye brands I have been suggested In the past are
ā€¢Manic Panic
ā€¢Splat (also heard horror stories
ā€¢Pravana Silks degrees/vivid effects
ā€¢special effects
I'm also wondering what your experiences are using these dyes without bleaching? My hair has gotten to a dirty dark golden blonde/very light brown , so I would like to avoid as much damage as possible!
I would like to dye it soon, I will be doing this by myself, or with the help of my mom, if I genuinely decide I go through with it, where could I find these products besides online?
Sorry for the question bomb!
Thank you so much in advance!!
I will supply a picture of my natural hair!

And answer to even one of these questions is greatly appreciated! Do you think I could rock blue , purple or green?

I would recommend a bright red or lavender purple, they would go great with your eyes :)
I used Pravana vivids for a bit when I first went red and it's fairly good, it doesn't lose colour as much as it loses it's shine. I never bleached my hair at first at all! I dyed it red a bunch of times until it started showing and while it was unconventional going from black to red it definitely did the job!

I agree with Brittany on the bright red! It would look amazing with your eyes and skin tone. :)

I think you should dip dye the ends blue.

Ohh a magenta or purple would look good! I actually recommend either Loreal hicolor or ion with some 30 developer!

I find manic panic fades quickly from experience so if you don't mind touch ups and it doesn't turn out as vibrant unless your hair is bleached

I would risk damaging your natural hair. I'd say stick yo temporary colors. Or get some fake hair similar to your real
Hair and dye that instead.

Your hair looks light enough to use manic panic on it without bleaching first.
I'd say definitely try to avoid bleach!

When it comes to blue dyes I have the best experience with the brand punky color by Jerome Russell. They fade but not as fast and ugly as many of the other colors (I've tried what I can remember manic panic's blues -which are the best of these two- and special effects blue's) purples doesn't last that long in punky color but I do think a purple would look amazing on you :) all the best of luck with your hair and I would very much love to see the result if you go through with it šŸ˜Š

It's really hard to get unnatural colors to show on unbleached hair but I suggest Adore, I use it in violet gem and I love it and it doesn't fade very fast.

I'm pretty useless with hair dye brands, I've only ever used manic panic. Using manic panic over unbleached dark brown hair gave me a tint of the colour and over my natural medium brown hair it gave me quite a vibrant colour, not neon by any means but still pretty bright. Manic panic shows what the colours look like on unbleached hair on there website too which may help you. :)

I had all three of these colors, if you go with green do NOT use manic panic. I had green and it faded into a piss color and for weeks kids called me piss head for diarrhea head -_- the other colors in manic panic faded well though. I don't like manic panic at all though. It faded out of my hair very quickly.Also, check out the brand Jerome Russell Punky Colour. Their hair dye lasted much longer for me and it smells like fruit!

I suggest to get your hair done by a professional. Don't risk damaging your hair and messing it up! It might be pricey, but I think it's worth it to get better results that last longer. I definitely learned my lesson with dying my hair at home...

@Brittany F.
Thank you so much! I'm a HUGE fan of pastels, and lavender is one of my favorite colors! I'm going to have to dig deeper, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about red, bright red as in when Rihanna had it or? Thanks again!
@Brittany T.

Thank you! I'm going to have to look into the bright red!

@Jorie C.
I've been really itching to go full bright, but I'm going to have to google dip dyed natural curls! It sounds wicked pretty though! Thanks for the idea!! ā¤ļø

@Renay T.
What was your experience with them?! I know I'm a huge hair dye noob but what exactly does a developer do?

@Jessie B
I've never heard of the brand! I'm going to definitely look into it!

@Christina T.
Thank you a ton! I only wash my hair 2-3 x's a week would it fade slower than normal? Or at the same or similar? Thanks a bunch, totally using that tip!

@Nala H.
Thank you for the input! I'm just kind of tossing the idea around, seriously but it's still and idea! What hair do you recommend? I'm kind of on a budget but I'm curious to see what I could try?

@Kaitlyn C.

@Jasmine S.
Thank you so much! If I decide to go through with this (seriously considering) I am trying to avoid using it!

@Lesly A.

@Olivia B.
How much damage do you think a lighten kit would entail? Also, lightening as in bleaching? thank you!

@Millie S.
Where could I purchase the brand?! Also, I'm actually kind do a fan of the faded look is it's pretty pastely, (can't remember if I mentioned that or not! Thank you so much, buttercup!

I used the loreal hicolor permanent highlights for my red hair, and it didn't do damage at all. my mom used the ion in purple and it lifted to a beautiful purple and she had BLACK hair. See, in these dyes there is already bleach in them, and the developer just activates the bleach. You just mix 2 parts developer and 1 part dye, put it on, leave it for suggested amount, and bam! it'll lift your hair color, and BRIGHT too depending on how long you leave it. also, just like bleaching you'd have the do the tips, wait a bit, then do the roots..because the color adheres to roots faster and they will be brighter! no damage from them though, for us.

I used Splat (the purple one) and I had the same colour hair as you and it looked just fine without bleaching it :)
