I quite possibly may be the only one left in this day and age that doesn't feel my makeup is finished until my lipliner and lipstick are applied perfectly (opaque).. I just hate the nude sickly look.
Now, I also may be the fairest of them all, so please keep that in mind. I just don't know how to perfectly coordinate my lipstick color (usually dark reds and plums) with blush- It always ends up looking obvious or muddy. I'm shooting for a subtle glow, not how to complete the Geisha look!
I'm trying to experiment with my placement, brushes, etc.
Any suggestions on color combos?
I'm really liking the colors I'm seeing by Chanel, but before I invest in 1 or 2 really expensive blushes I want to understand what exactly I'm looking for.
People have suggested I buy a palette from NYX to experiment, but I don't think any of the cheaper brands I've seen will really deliver this look I'm dying to achieve. All I see is the makeup, the pigment.. In better brands like chanel, the shades just can't be compared.

You could actually use your lipstick as a cream blush on your cheeks, then just blend it out with your finger. That way your lip color and cheeks match :D

Here's what I think: bite the bullet and get it. Makeup, much like clothing, is returnable, even more so if it's high end. Just try it out :)

Theoretically using the same color blush and lipstick looks the best but I'm really pale too so that never really turns out well for me if I'm using a darker colored lipstick. I usually try to find a blush that's the same color as my lips without anything on them because that well be the closest to your natural coloring and will give you a nice subtle warmth. Also what Hannah said.

Match your lipstick with eyeshadow or the blush. If you match the blush with the lipstick then typically your eyes will be neutral. If you match the blush with your eyes and then the lipstick should be neutral. Neutral doesn't mean nude. My go to blushes for any look are Nars Orgasm, Kat Von D Heartagram, and Too Faced Sweetheart.
