Hair growth is genetics. There's nothing much you can do besides keeping it healthy; moisturize by conditioners and masks, oils like coconut and morroccan.
DO NOT TAKE PILLS WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR.

First off, your hair is already dead. Literally. The only "living" part of hair is in the hair follicle, which is what connects the hair to our head/other parts of the body. Everything else besides that is dead. The actual hair is made up of proteins and minerals that our body has secreted. I will get back to this statement later.

Hair also grows in three phases: the anagen, the catogen and the telogen. All three occurs simultaneously throughout our entire head/body. So while one hair is in one stage, another hair may be in another. I'll explain each stage now. The anagen stage is the growth stage, the catogen stage is the cessation (slowing) stage and the telogen is the rest stage. These stages will repeat themselves throughout the "life" of the hair strand.

The average monthly growth for hair that is 100% healthy is between 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch per month.

Now, back to the statement above. If you were to take pills such as biotin, or those new hairfinity pills, you would put your body into an overload (unless you had a deficiency for the minerals you are taking). Our body is made to take all the minerals and vitamins we need from food, and to secrete and deplete the rest. That's what happens with our hair. Extra proteins from our food and the minerals and vitamins we get from fruits and vegetables get sent to the follicles help "grow" our hair. If you do take pills that aren't needed, the body will go into a state of "we need to get rid of all these extra nutrients" and will virtually make your hair "grow". But, over time, the body can go into shock. Having too much of anything is bad for you, many of you probably heard that saying before.
"Overdosing" on minerals and vitamins for hair growth is very dangerous. Many girls have gotten horrible acne from biotin. Andréa Matillano, a woman on YouTube, has a whole video dedicated to her story of biotin and the acne she got. There's also been cases of death because there's too much for the body to handle. Magnesium, for an example, helps with muscle function, mostly with the heart. Having too much or too little is deadly. Also, taking one type of mineral will make levels of other minerals lower, to help your body cope with the higher amount of what you are taking.

Here is my disclaimer: I am no way, shape or form a doctor and I do not have any medical degree. But, since I've been diagnosed with a kidney syndrome over 6 years ago now and having to take high doses of magnesium and potassium to stay alive, I have become very conscious of what types of vitamins I put into my body. This research that I have done has came from creditable sources of the internet, most of them being doctor and medical websites.
Yes, of course it sucks that hair growth is genetics, but having strong healthy hair by avoiding heat, not washing everyday, doing conditioning treatments ect. is a lot better than putting your health into jeopardy for the long luscious locks you may dream of having.

I also have this in my notes in my phone like Jacqlyn ☺️
