On May 17th, I bought two items from spehora, the urban decay beauty balm and a set from benefit. I've only used each of them once or twice, and didn't really like either. Since it's been over 90 days, can I still get store credit? And since I used them does it affect anything? I looked up the return policy but I wasn't sure. Thank you!

I've returned things to Sephora beyond 60 days...used and unused. You will be fine. With receipt I received my funds back...w/o receipt just store credit.

Just another question.. If you lose the receipt, does it affect anything? Because I heard if you're a beauty insider they can trace the purchase to your card. Is that true? I still have my receipt, I was just wondering.

They don't have a limit and they can be used. They ask for ID and usually give store credit.
I've had times where I bought 3 pen liquid liners, after using up the 2, the 3rd one was defective. It was leaking once opened and wasn't at all like the other two. I didn't open it till 8 months after I bought it. I returned it just fine and got store credit. I also bought a foundation once, used it about halfway, then started medication that took me from non acne prone to acne prone, and my foundation gave me bad acne so I went to sephora and asked if I could return it, since it had been 6+ months and was half empty. They returned it no problem and told me as long as it's not empty or user error (dropped it and smashed, dropped in water etc) that they accept returns for well over a year.

I've never returned anything with a receipt lol. They just ask for ID (even school ID is fine). they don't usually even ask for my beauty insider card.

Man, you guys are so lucky! The one and only sephora here gives such sass when you try to return things. I had bought a lipstick once and it gave me a weird reaction on my lips, so I went back to return it and the girl was like
'um, you know we have to just throw this product out now right?'

and I was like 'Oh... Um... Sorry? I just can't use it because I'm having a reaction. I thought you guys turned them into testers.'

'no, we don't. We aren't allowed, so now we are literally going to have to throw this product away'
'okay... I... Don't know what to tell you'

'well are you sure you still want to return it then?'

' uh... Yeah...'

I was so weirded out. Then the next time, I bought a Dior tinted moisturizer (and those things don't come cheap) and noticed that the package said it was 5 months expired. So I came back the next day to exchange it. A different lady had the nerve to say 'what's the problem, so what if it's expired? It won't harm you, it's just going to be less effextive'
'yeah, I'd rather exchange it seeing as I'm paying 50 bucks for something and I'd rather have it not be expired'

'well, we don't have any others, so you may as well keep it'

'Oh, it's okay then, I would just like to return it then'

Like, ARE YOU FOR REAL?!

SV, do not even have one more word with any employee at that store if in the future they treat you that way. I've worked in retail on and off for 17 years and been a store manager and up. Next time anyone starts such bs, ask for the name and phone number of their district manager. If they won't give it to you, call the next local store and ask them their's. No one should be treated that way, I guarantee the DM does not want you treated that way and that Sephora, the company, does not want you treated that way.

Katherine, especially with a receipt, you will be just fine. It's funny because people who have legitimate returns always worry so much and the people who are abusing the system don't bat an eyelash, trust me. My DH is always paranoid about the kids bringing toys they own into stores and them thinking we're stealing? Um, first off I'm pretty sure the barbies on the shelves don't have the same, ahem, modifications ours do, and secondly you are on camera walking into the store with them, every second you're there, etc.
I'm always like, baby, it's cool.

Damn that's some BS right there SV!! Careful buying from Sephora in JCPenny...you can only return and redeem gift cards from that location if you buy there.

Umm S.V you need to report that to corporate right away.. They have no right in giving you attitude for making a return...

I don't understand why they give you such attitude when you return things! sometimes things don't work out for people! jeeze! I don't think I'd go back to that Sephora.. S V.

What about returning items to Sephora that you purchased online? Can you ship it back to them?

Jul 31, 2014

Alyx T.

Regina you can ship them back, or you can take them to a store near you. They take them. If you do ship them back make sure to email and make sure they know, and to get the correct address of where to send it. There should be a return thing online if you go to your purchases.

Thank you Alyx! There is a store an hour away but I don't really go to that town unless I have to. I want to buy stuff online but be able to return if needed.
