Has anyone else here gotten a terrible allergic reaction/dermatitis from the formaldehyde releaser or sulfate or any of the other irritants/harsh chemicals in Philosophys purity made simple? I had been using it for a little over a week and suddenly my skin developed rough scaly patches and burned like crazy. Also got 2 cysts on my face. I look like a monster. Just wanted to warn people not to assume that because it says "purity" in the title that it's not FULL of chemicals that are known irritants. I know a lot of people love it but please be aware before trying this product!

Be careful. It might only harm YOU but not to other people. Look up the reviews then see if its just you.

That's the first thing I did. The second thing was call my dermatologist.

I'm not trying to tell people it's a bad product, only that I'm sure many people assume it's made with more natural ingredients just based on the name. It worked very well for me at first I was in love:) Also I know there are millions of people who love it and can't live without it.

Thats good. I hate when the products say something but the its never what it seems like it when you put it on your body.

I can't use the original cream version but I have no issues with the Purity Made Simple Gel cleanser. The original irritated my skin after two months of use. Dried it out big time and it did start to burn but I didnt get rough scaly patches. Sorry you're going thru this. Hope it clears up for you soon.

The company Philosophy that makes purity cleanser are not all natural they don't claim to be and I have used there cleanser on a few occasions I never had a problem but some products just don't agree with everyone skin try cerave cleanser and see if you have luck with that but that's not all natural either if that's what your looking for.

I love Purity. I've been using it for quite a while now and have not had any issues. like Tracy said, they don't claim to be all natural.

Thank you Tracy. I don't aim to buy all natural products or anything and I've never had a reaction to any of my other skin care products that are full of parabens, sulfates, etc. I wasn't trying to call them out for claiming their products are all natural, I just think the name of the product seems pretty hilarious seeing as how it has so many chemicals in it. I use and adore many of their other products:)

I used to use the purity cleanser and then I switched to, of all things, Diva Wash. It is the super gentle, ph-balanced, irritant-free gel cleanser for cleaning Diva Cups (menstrual cups). I had tried the cup and it wasn't for me but I thought I'd give the wash a try. If it is gentle enough for my Hoo-haa, I figured it would be gentle enough for my face! That was 4 years ago and I've been using it ever since. Never over dries, never sensitizes and it is only $7/bottle! Lasts forever too. I hope your face feels better Angela J.!

Haha I've used monistat chafing gel as a primer in a pinch so why not! Summers Eve wash is ph balanced too as a matter of fact. Laura, you may just be onto something!

You're right Traci, and I was really impressed with how well it removed makeup and how clean my skin felt the first few days I used it.

Laura, that's interesting...
I also had no luck with the Diva Cup. Everyone raves about it, and in theory it sounds great, also I ordered the "after baby" size and I think it was too big? It wouldn't wedge in place and was kind of uncomfortable. But I guess there's no way to measure the area around your cervix, ha ha. Sorry for the TMI y'all.
I also assumed the "purity" referred to your face, post cleanse. I never had an issue with it, but Angela, where did you purchase? You can probably exchange for a different product.
Maybe you should check out Lush for body products.

Thanks Bree I actually love lush products. Never have had a crazy reaction to any other face wash though so I'm not too worried. About the diva cup I am lmao as I didn't know they came in different sizes and would hate to have to guess mine omg! Can't stop laughing.
