Curls and waves are really easy to do without heat if you have some foam rollers or you can even create loose waves using socks to wrap your hair around - there are a lot of great tutorials on YouTube for heatless curls n waves and I have tried the sock thing n it works great. :D.

What about flexi rods? My mom loves them for curls - she hates using heat.

Bantu knots are also an option for really beautiful curls!

There are a million possible options that will result in heatless styling. As YouTube is the holy grail for tutorials, I'd suggest going there. But you can do waves and curls with rollers, curl formers, you can even wrap your hair for a straight smooth style with some volume. But don't forget products! Even though you're giving up heat for a while doesn't mean you need to stop using products. I'd suggest a good mask and leave in and to also trim the ends especially if you haven't had a good trimming within the past 6 weeks.
