Chapstick that really works?

What you want to look for in a lip balm is something that's petroleum free. Petroleum (Vaseline) will do nothing but coat your lips and seal them. In terms of products I love, try the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm, or the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, both of them are absolutely wonderful and hydrating.

I like Nivea and Carmex.

I second the Nuxe Reve de Miel, it's a really nice lipbalm. I quite like that it's not particularly glossy like some others so lipsticks apply nicely ontop too.

That's what I like about it, too, Becky! It's really nice how matte a texture it is.

Yes! It works really well with matte lipsticks too, I hate it when other lip balms make my matte lipsticks more glossy! Definitely doesn't happen with that one.

I use it as more of a nighttime treatment, but yes I understand what you mean :)

Baby lips, and Eos.

I find that Eos dry my lips out more because they apply in such thin layers and then your lips chap more which means you have to go back and buy more. So I'm thinking it's a gimmick so you buy it more. I like baby lips, primarily for before lipstick or before I go in sun since some have SPF, Nivea lip butters are amazing, and sugar lip treatments!!
