I like the shape and the bruising, but a few things don't add up. It looks like a puncture wound (straight vertical) instead of a cut (which would be less deep on the edges). The shading isn't quite realistic (is it burnt? why is the edge so dark?).
When creating a wound, think about what caused it (is it a serrated knife stabbing straight in with rough jagged skin, a scalpel smoothly slicing, road rash from being dragged, etc.), how old it is (age affects colors, shading, and type of blood used), and the severity (deep vs. shallow).
In general, wounds are darkest in the deepest part (usually the center). The tissue just under the edge of the wound is brightest, where the highly oxygenated blood and tissue is exposed. Around the wound will be bruised (the color and size of which is determined by the age of the injury).
You've got a great start there, definitely keep it up!
