Hi beauties!
I've decided that I'll go with a no-buy until about a month from now, when I'll hopefully be going to France. The no-buy will interest mostly makeup (no excuses!) but also skincare UNLESS I run out (not sure how long my makeup remover and toner are going to last me.

I wanted to ask you: have you ever done one? How do I follow through?
I feel like I'm always looking for new products and never enjoying what I have. Any trick on how to make it more fun?

Thank you!!

Well the only way I go on a no buy is if I don't have any money lol

All I have to so us look at my account & realize how much I could save by not buying that item that I "so badly" need. Good luck tho because it is hard :)

I've been doing really well with not buying makeup lately, I mean the reasons are different for everyone but I have rent, utilities, insurance, gas, you know adult things to pay for lol. It's not fun but I feel guilty spending on makeup over the weekend when I could've used that to go out with my friends and enjoy their company. I'm focusing more on using my money to gain experiences rather than material things.

I have been on a no buy since August 1. I decided I wouldn't purchase makeup until I finished my Christmas shopping (I tend to start early) 😀 Its been really hard but I am so proud of myself. I am actually almost done but have decided to continue the no buy until after that. (Or at least until I run out of mascara) Trying until December. Since I haven't been purchasing makeup I have been focusing a lot on my skincare. I finally managed to buy my Clarisonic and a few other skin care items I had been wanting. I think the hardest part has been walking into the drugstore and not rushing to the makeup aisle or going to the mall and walking away from ulta or sephora. It's just best to stay away from those places if your really committed.
Focus on playing with all the products you already have I'm sure you will realize there are a few eyeshadows or lipsticks you haven't used in a while, good luck 😀

No buys are tricky because everyone has their own unique way on how to control themselves. I bought a bunch of new make up recently so I know I'll be entertained for a good while. Its all self control! I didn't buy the Lorac Mega pro because I already had majority of the colors in other palettes... what am I going to do with 15 million different versions of beige if at the end of the day I just grab the one closer to me at the moment? 😋 I just compare products to see if I already have colors similar to it.
I'm on a no buy for a while ( Maybe Until January ) and I won't buy something unless I'm finished. Right now the only thing I'm crazy for is a new palette coming out in Late October, other than that I have too much and I don't have any place to put it anyways!

Thank you so much for your replies!
I, too, have lots of things to pay for, but since I have a job I end up having a bit left over, but I'd rather save it and then spend it on presents for the upcoming holidays!
I'm pretty good with eyeshadows I must admit. I have lots, but they're all very different! And I usually try what I already own to recreate looks, etc.
But for mascaras...oh God. I have a stash of unused mascaras that would last me at least a year! (some are freebies, some come in kits, some aren't available where I live so I buy them abroad!)
If I come up with some good strategies, I'll let you guys know!

And "good job!!!" to you guys who are currently on a no-buy! I know I'm too weak to skip buying stuff in France, but if I like it I might continue it after Christmas!

I used to hoarddd mascara! If you have weak points just walk past them. The more time you spend on it the more you'll talk yourself into grabbing it. I just avoid Ulta and Sephora for now because I always walk in empty handed and out with a whole new set of things. Make up is our hobby so what do we expect???

Instead of a complete no buy, which is always difficult, why not give yourself 50$ (or less/more) to spend on cosmetics. That way you're not completely deprived.

I'm on a no buy since I'm completely broke till I get a job lol. It's so difficult I have a huge list of things I'm going to buy when I have the money lol.

I know right, Kitty? The "problem" is I go by Sephora AND Kiko every time I go to Venice to go to class (twice a week) >_<

And Alyx, I'll try sticking with no-buy first :)
