So I'm in need of a haircut but unfortunately can't find a hairdresser that will listen to what I want so I'm thinking of going back to cutting my own hair. I was wondering if any of you ladies have any tips for cutting a long bob yourself? I'm probably going to go through with it anyway but I'm a little nervous as I haven't cut my own hair in a few years haha. Thanks girls :) any tips or advice is welcome.

I don't do it know, but when I was younger my mom or I would cut my bangs. I think if you're cutting your own hair I would start of longer than you want it and go slow, just incase you mess up. Then again, I don't have experience. Hope this somehow helped!♡

@ Jessie, I've already looked at a few tutorials so I have an idea and it doesn't look too hard but I just wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience. :)
@Taylor, thank you for the advice I think I'll definitely take it slow at first haha :) I used to cut my hair when I was like 15 but haircuts terrify me but I'd rather do it myself then have someone else do it and me not like it then be upset with them, yano? Haha

Make sure to take it slow! I don't see anything wrong with cutting your own hair, just don't chop off too much because you can't just instantly put it back on :) watch some videos first!! Good luck.

I cut my bangs (I never cut my hair), but I always start wet, cut it a little longer than I want (when it dries it lifts), and then do touch ups when its dried! Good luck.

I would definitely recommend making it longer because if there is something wrong with it you'd rather have it longer because then you can fix it if it's too short you can't get that back.

Also make sure you are using actually hair scissors and not just any scissors in your house. I used to cut mine with any scissors and ALL the ends split so quickly because they can't cut a microscopically blunt end. Hair scissors are suuuper sharp and thus leave a super blunt strand (and so it won't fray and split) I used to trim my hair every 6 weeks with the regular scissors cause I'd always find split ends, but since using hair scissors (and other good precautions) I haven't needed a trim since July!

I cut the front portion of my hair and my layers all over and I get my perfectionist boyfriend to cut the back, haha.

This is how it turned out lol :) I don't regret it so I guess it can't be "that" bad lol, I just wanted to get rid of my layers.
