I attempted to dye my dark brown hair ginger but it didn't take the colour fully,I topped it up with an orange semi permanent dye hoping that would increase its orangeness,but instead it turned my hair bright red,as it's now bright red would my hair now accept the ginger dye or would the semi permenent dye effect this?

Putting anything lighter than what it already is won't take and if it has any red tones it will just intensify it I went from a vibrant red to a darker ginger color because trying to get the red out with out lightening it first is very hard and time consuming...hope I helped :-)

I think your best alternative would be to wait until your current colour fades and go to the hairdressers. I've just gone a ginger colour myself and it took me months to find a dye that looked like the colour I wanted, hairdressers are just best for ginger/red tones cause they can colour match much better then a box dye. You could try using a box dye but just wait until the red fades. :)
