You should refrain from using any products that cause any unusual irritation. I used proactive for a short period of time and my skin also became irritated. In my opinion, I think proactive has the potential to clear skin however, it somehow causes your skin to become addicted to the product and once you discontinue using proactive your face & skin seem to break out even worse. I honestly think everyone should stay as far away from proactive as possible.
If it causes irritation, don't use it. Switch to something for sensitive skin. I use proactive on my face, however I use it only one a day because it is sometimes harsh. It just depends on the person.
I used proactiv for a few months.....made my skin worse. I actually use ivory bar soap and a good oil free moisturizer afterwards.....clearest skin ever.
