So I'm in the market for a new foundation and picked up samples of all the ones I'm interested in. I got Mac studio fix (NC42), MUFE Mat velvet (53), Estée Lauder double wear (honey bronze) and cover fx (G60). Let me know what you think if you've used them before, and I can provide reviews of any if you're interested!

The Estée Lauder Double Wear has really great coverage, but the only thing for me was that it got quite oily on my forehead unlike other foundations I've tried, but thats probably just my skin type... I haven't tried the other foundations, sorry! Hope this helped! xx

I really want to try the Mac studio fix and Estée Lauder double wear! I hear amazing things on them. Reviews please (:

Thanks Holly! My skin is pretty normal/dry so hopefully that won't happen to me.

Will do, Ivette! I plan on wearing them for a full day to see how they hold up, so I'll share in a bit. Right now all I can tell you is that Studio Fix smells absolutely TERRIBLE. Like nail polish remover and paint thinner mixed together.

Oh that's terrible I have a thing about makeup smells and if it smells the least but bad I can't use it.

Well that's not good :/

Please let me know how you like MUFE's, I may pick up a sample tomorrow.

I just recently tried the Double Wear, and I totally get the hype for this now. It is everything and more, girl. It's like a lighter version of my KVD, which is my holy grail. The coverage is amazing, it's super easy to work with, lasts all day, and feels so good on my skin. The only downfall is the packaging, but you can always buy a pump from mac and cut it to size. That, and that their lightest color is just a taaaad too dark, but I make it work lol. :p Really love it though, so I hope you do too!

I have oily skin & the Estée Lauder foundation didn't do that to me:)

@raylene and Ivette: when the guy at mac swatched it on me it was pretty bad, but it faded after a few seconds.
@alli: I really like the MUFE, though I find it has more of a natural than a matte finish. I accidentally put too much on the first time I tried it but it blended out well and wasn't cakey at all. It's not sticky after applying so it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything. My only issue with it is, for some reason, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to conceal my dark circles when I'm using this foundation. I have a small army of undereye products and no combination of them works, which is a bit of a deal breaker for me with this one.

How much product would you say it takes to cover your whole face? For full coverage? What did you use to apply it? I've been extremely interested in trying one of MUFE's foundations, and this one seemed the most appealing. However, I'm going to stick with getting a sample of this, since you mention the dark circle problem. My undereyes look straight up purple, so that may be an issue. Everything else sounds nice about it though!

I'm a big fan of the Cover Fx, the creme compact is my favourite!!

I absolutely love EL double wear, I have pretty normal skin with some dehydration & estee lauder double wear works well for me. I've heard about it being great for combo skin as well but luckily since my skin is pretty normal I can use many different foundations so if your skin is similar to mine I think you will love it!

@Alli- sorry this may be too late if you planned on picking it up today, but I found it super high coverage. When I got the sample the little cup was about 3/4 full and I've used it 4 days and probably still have 2 more days left. I have pretty decent skin at the moment so I don't need a ton of product to cover up, so I found one layer was sufficient for full coverage for me.

Thanks StacyAnn! I got the liquid for a sample, but the creme compact was a match too. Do you find it difficult to apply? I've never used a creme foundation before.

@Sarah- good to hear!! I was a little worried it would dry me out, hopefully it'll work for me too.

Won't the MAC one be a little darker for you?

No, you're fine. I did pick up a sample, but the associate was a little rude and only gave me like a drop lol, so we'll see how it goes. I'm super excited for it. I would have just taken the plunge, but I wanted to see how it worked for my dry, sensitive skin. Fingers crossed! :) Thanks for letting me know, you're giving me high hopes!

I hope not! When I got color matched I was between the nc40 and 42 but the 42 looked a little better. But I got a sample as it was late afternoon on an overcast day and I wanted to be sure of the color in other lighting.

Ugh, I hate when they don't give you enough to actually try it out. I usually wait a bit and ask another employee or go to another store, haha. I hope it works for you, let me know!

I totally thought about doing that lol. I work 1-10:30, so I might find time to go back in. Maybe that girl won't be there. :p.

@alli- Dang, the sephora by is you open that late? You should totally do it.

Dec 19, 2014

Alli P.

Well my bareMinerals store and Sephora are in the same mall, and we're on holiday hours. Unfortunately, yes...it's open until 10. -.-
But anyways, I didn't go back..yet lol. I'm so mad though, I left the sample in my brush belt! ):

Bummer dude. Well, girl hopefully won't be working tomorrow/the next time you go in!

Oh, and I wore the double wear today and I totally get the hype now, it's so dope!

Jack, I apply it with a damp beauty blender and love it! I find it really easy to work with, even a synthetic bristle brush works well.
