My hair has become weighed down, partially due to my inability to properly wash my hair with low water pressure. Does a clarifying shampoo work on color treated hair? Or does it strip it? Any other suggestions on getting my normal hair back? Also what is a good shampoo by herbal essence for color treated, oily prone hair? I ask about this brand because it is the easiest to find where I am.

I personally think that herbal essence is horrible for hair, so if you could get other brands, get them first! The only herbal essence shampoo/conditioner set is their tea tree one. It's clarifying and it made my hair feel really nice and clean

Herbal Essence and really any other drugstore brand in my opinion is awful for color treated hair. I do recommend L'oreal Sulfate Free Shampoos (they look like this) and Nexxus. As for other brands Redken and Pureology are good. Clarifying Shampoos will strip your hair though but if you are using a sulfate free shampoo then you shouldn't need a clarifying one. Also make sure you are conditioning your hair because this could actually be making your hair worse. A good tip for color treated hair is minimizing the amount of water is going on your hair (hard water, chlorine, etc.will make it fade faster) and also using cold/cool water instead of warm hot water will help too.

Thank you so much Lisa! I am not sure if I can find the shampoos you suggested, I am currently living in Bolivia :) and herbal essence is one of the main brands here. I will definitely look for them though! And thank you for all the tips!!
