A Co wash is using a conditioner as your shampoo plus conditioner, I.e, two steps combined into one.

Shampoo is damaging for hair and some people like to not use it at all, instead, they like to use conditioner since it is a lot less drying. A Co wash is mid way between shampoo and conditioner, some co washes lather too.

Ame is absolutely correct. It's like a cleansing conditioner if you've ever tried that. I use a cleansing conditioner 4 days week. Then the other 2 I wash with regular shampoo to get rid of product build up.
