Yes you can do that, it works pretty well. john frieda's line for red hair is also a good one

I completely agree with Carien.. the John frieda line is what I use. And yes, you can put the dye in your conditioner. John friedas already has some in it. I highly highly highly recommend it. It's about $13 for shampoo and conditioner.

Look into riveting reds shampoo and conditioner! They sell them at Sally's for about 10 bucks each :)
