Hi everybody! I have a bunch of make up brushes that I've never cleaned before and I don't know how I do it so do you guys have any suggestions? Or are there any YouTube videos that you know of? Thanks.

I usually mix baby shampoo and a tad bit of oil on a small plate and then dip my brush in it, swirl it around in my hand then run it under water until the water runs clear. The oil helps not dry out the brushes and the shampoo is gentle. Make sure as you swirl/ massage your brush that you squeeze it a few times so that all the old makeup comes out. Hope this helps(:

I put soap on the back of my hand and scrub the brushes in the soap

I rub some shampoo into the bristles and then put the bristles under running water to rinse.

I would suggest getting a cleanser specially formulated for brushes or sponges. Regular soap can harm your brushes by breaking down the glue in your brushes, causing fall out of your bristles. Long story short, don't use regular soap! Your brushes will not last long!

1) get your brushes wet, under some warm water. In a plate, squeeze a little of that brush soap and begin in a circular motion getting all that makeup off. You may need to rinse and begin again for a deep cleansing, just continue until all the make up is gone.

2) LAY YOUR BRUSHES FLAT! don't put them right side up, the water will damage the inside of your brushes, causing fall out. Lay flat on like a towel until they dry.

That's for a deep cleansing, if you want a quick cleanse, you ca buy a more watery version of a brush cleanser. You spritz on the brush, wipe the brush on a paper towel, and you're good. You can buy brush cleanser at Sally's I'm sure, but Sephora and MAC have some good cleansers, too.

Deep cleanse one a week, quick cleanse after every use of your brushes. :))))

I actually use liquid dish detergent first and then use shampoo. I have really acne prone skin! the dish detergent helps get ALL the grease out of my brushes, and then the shampoo just cleans the bristles. this way, I know that all the gunk is out

Dish soap and olive oil.

Hi Hannah! I would suggest using this method, it's fast, inexpensive, no alcohol and smells amazing. When I was trying different methods, I ruined a very expensive brush because I used a cleanser with alcohol. 😭 I do not suggest using olive oil on your brushes because it can actually trap dirt and germs, and since it coats hair the blending can be very patchy, uneven and prone to creasing, particularly with powders. I hope this helps! I bought my bar of soap locally last year, and my hundred plus brushes are washed regularly with the same one!😁 http://youtu.be/0_dxejcdKP4.
