My skin is normal until I wear makeup and then ones I have foundation on it goes super cakey after only a bit of time.
I have products that help but nothing stops it so I'm wondering what causes all this oil production and is there things I can do to lessen it?

What is your current skincare and makeup routine?
You will want to try and even out the ph balance in your skin so that you don't over produce oils which makes your skin oily. Introducing a toner into your skincare routine will help make your skin less oily over time. Using jojoba oil on your skin can also "trick" your skin into thinking it has produced enough oil which will therefore make your skin not over produce extra oil onto your skin.

I agree many different things play a part in your skin. Food, stress, exercise, etc. Definitely a lot of fried foods and dairy can create oily skin and some people just naturally have oily or dry skin. Also the makeup you use has a big impact on how your skin reacts to those chemicals.

You can't lessen oily skin :( I have it too but it's the best skin type you can have because dry skin don't get the moisture that oily skin types already have! But I agree with the people above! Wash face Every morning and night and use toner afterward. Refrain from touching your face throughout the day, and it sounds excessive but I'd change pillowcases every night
