Is there anyway of lightening my hair at home using a box dye. I've been dark for so long I fancy a change.

A box color will only lift 2 shades on virgin hair so you probably won't even get the color on the box :-(

I made a mix of lemon juice, peroxide, coconut oil, and conditioner and apllied it to all my hair and sat in the sun. I was pretty pleased with my results and it looked much more natural then what a dye could have done for me

But I also agree with Danielle on the John Frieda go blonder, it helps a lot! I'm pretty sure they have a spray too from the go blonder line.

If your hair has no color on it at all then yes, you can lighten it with color. if there is color in your hair then no, color will not break thru colorn.

The first time I dyed my hair I used Splat. Went bright Blue from black. So long as it's used correctly, you should be fine.

I would never ever recommend going lighter from a box. I also would not try using bleach at home unless you are very experienced. Just save up some money because your hair is one thing to spend the extra $ on! Really I thought I was doing okay for years until I burned my hair off.. Twice 😩

No my hair isn't virgin it's got 3 layers of semi permanent plum on. would I need to remove this first? and what about ombre how would that work.
