I have really bad dandruff and it flakes off onto my clothes because I always pick at it. But I have bright red hair and always have to use color protectant shampoo and conditioner so if I tried to use a specialized dandruff shampoo it would destroy my color.
Is there anything else I could do?

Acv works well with dandruff. Use a spray bottle and apple directly to your scalp.

I too suffer from dandruff and it sucks! I have found that deep conditioning may help for a while but when it gets REALLY bad I use sulfur8. I use the leave in hair grease (and I hate grease let me tell you I will not put it in my hair) but it works. If you don't want to use the grease they do make a shampoo but I have never tried it. With the grease I will put it in my hair in the morning on a Saturday and leave it in until Sunday. On Sunday I wash it out (because I cannot take the smell and I hate oily hair) and I deep condition and that leaves me dandruff free for about a week or two.

I have Psoriasis of the scalp...which flakes horribly. I find Tea Tree Oil treatments relieve itching, soothe and reducing flaking. Tea tree oil naturally is antimicrobial as as well. Paul Mitchell and Sally's Generic line both have tea tree products. I also make a green tea rinse that I leave on for about 10-30 minutes...rinsing before conditioning.
