I recently started using Neutrogena Pore Refining Exfoliating cleanser and the green Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash (I use the former at night and the latter in the morning in the shower). I've noticed that I have a small cluster of bumps on my left cheek. They're not really inflamed, and they don't hurt...I also notice that around my chin and between my nose and upper lip have gotten quite dry (though I had a spell with a runny nose recently and I had to use the abrasive Kleenex at work, which left my nose dry, raw and flakey, but what's with the dryness on my chin?).

I moisturize (Cetaphil daily moisturizer in the morning & Olay Age Defying Classic Night Cream at night). I really haven't exfoliated properly in a week (though I did tonight, with the Derma E Microabrasion Scrub) so maybe that's the problem? Or maybe it's the Pore Refining cleanser (it's my first AHA/BHA product, if that makes a difference). I want to address these minor problems early before my face turns into a cluster.

It kind of sounds like youre sing way too much face products, especially cleansers, fke your own good. I'm jot a skincare guru but neutrogena products are very drying. every product I've used from them dried my face out, so it could be those.

I probably am. I panicked because I was breaking out really bad not too long ago which caused me to buy the green acne cleanser. I used to use the original oil-free acne cleanser in the cream form, and that didn't dry my skin out. I think I'll just stick to the exfoliating cleanser, since that's more of a cream. I probably should have learned my lesson, every time I try something that's a gel and that foams, even though I have oily skin, it'll dry my skin out...ugh.

I agree that neutrogena products are not the best - especially if you have sensitive skin - try sticking a cleanser designed for sensitive skin like the cetaphil sensitive skin cleanser - I use it in the winter and it does an ok job at not overdrying my skin that is normally combo/oily in summer but sensitive - so try that n see if it helps - also if you are using a toner make sure it's alcohol free as any alcohol in any products can further dry out your skin - also exfoliation was over dry skin as well so maybe do that less (like once or twice a week at the most) and that should help too.

I usually exfoliate a couple times a week. And I use Dickenson's Witch Hazel toner at night. I'm currently trying to find Mr. Right when it comes to cleansers...every time I'm out I buy something new.

I agree, I've never liked neutrogena products. They make me break out like crazy and are so drying. I highly recommend Simple Skincare products and The Body Shop Aloe Vera line for sensitive skin.

Neutrogena face washes made my sensitive skin condition worse :(. I have found out that mild cleansers actually help my skin look and feel a lot better, they've helped with my acne even though they're not formulated to do so. Right now I am testing out Palmer's Face wash for sensitive skin, I am loving it so far!

Have you thought of not using a cleanser in the morning? Just a clean washcloth does wonders for me..considering I'm not removing any makeup I decided to only cleanse in the evening. For me it's great because I have very sensitive skin and it doesn't cause me to look like a lobster after my morning routine. Neutrogena was never my friend :/
