Don't feel silly. That's what they're there for. It's best just to get a check up to check you're not deficient in anything (eg: certain vitamins or minerals) or there's an underlying problem. I'm sure they're used to people booking appointments for less.

Please go to the doctor. Hair falling out in clumps is not normal and can be a sign of many serious illnesses.

It's not silly
You might be really sick because your hair is an indicator of your health

Also, stop putting it up in a bun or tying it in general. That can pull out hair when you do it a lot

You may want to consider wearing scarves. Target has a bunch of colorful fun ones and there are plenty of ways to wear them.

Or style with hats or headbands.

Definitely go to the doctor that much hair loss is not healthy. until then maybe try Topix or some other hair fiber type product to make your scalp less noticeable.

So I've been looking at the toppik product and been wanting to ask about it here but was real ashamed I guess but its wattevers now. Does that stuff really work? & does it look decent & untraceble.

I was going to try the scarfs but my hubby says he won't go out with me with them on..plus his family speaks thier mind a whole lot.

Selia, if this worsens in even the slightest bit, skip the clinic and hit the ER. This could indicate a seriously health risk, as the ladies above said. I would call your doctors and first ask , then schedules an appt., and then if it gets worse go to the the ER!

@selia don't be embarrassed
I appeared to be losing a lot of hair too but that was due to me having a chronic illness plus brushing my hair violently while wet

You're husband is being very mean especially since this is distressing tbh
Try wearing the scarf as a type of headband:
Fold it till it's thin then just wrap it around your head and tie it into a bow

I'm going to be blunt here and say your hubby is being a jerk. You need to do what makes you comfortable and helps you. I'm going to post a few of these anyway.

Agree with just going to the er if it worsens or takes that long for an appointment. loose up dos, hats, & scarves are good too. your husband is being really insensitive. he can get over you wearing a scarf or headband in your hair. it's not eve a crazy style. he's honestly just being a jerk. don't let him make you feel more self conscious then you already do. he's supposed to support you.

I had some pretty noticeable hair loss in the past and Toppik really did help it look less noticeable.

I also used a semi permanent (hoping for less damage equally less loss) to dye my hair lighter so there wasn't such a big contrast between scalp color and hair color. I don't want to imply this is a great idea as I don't know what the cause is, but I know it helped me a bit.

It could be alocepia. Is it just falling out of your scalp? Or also from your legs, arms, lashes, brows, etc?

I agree with everyone on here. Seek medical advice asap..thanx erin for sending those awesome scarf ideas! btw..three hubby isnt helping any :(

I totally agree with the scarf idea. And with all due respect to you, screw what he says. He is being an absolute jerk. He can't, or shouldn't control what you do with YOUR body. And don't worry about what his family says either, that's none of your concern. And me being miss sassy pants, if my partner said he wouldn't go out with me with a scarf on, then I would tell him to just stay home then. But yes, you do need to see a doctor asap.

I think it's best you go to a doctor asap. Although, if you can't in the mean time maybe you should look into extensions? Or like every one else the scarf idea is a great one.

I second everyone else on seeking medical advice. I would also add that I have slight traction alopecia from sleeping on my sides and wearing my hair back all the darn time...try to not wear it pulled back so much or at least more gently (loose braid). it will make it less obvious and prevent worsening if this is part of the problem.
