Can you use talcum powder as setting powder? Does it irritate the skin? Will it reduce shine well? And will it set eyeshadow? Thank you!

In theory yes you could but I don't think it would be the best. A setting powder would mattify better and I feel like it would be less heavy on the skin too.
If price is an issue there are plenty of very reasonably priced setting powders that do a really good job.

Talc usually causes breakouts, so use with caution

You could use it but I don't think it would be the best idea when I'm actually out of a loose powder I use cornstarch if that helps :D

Thank you all! Becky, no price isnt a problem, I'm just struggling to find a powder that mattifies my skin all day. Bella, where can I get cornstarch?

You can get cornstarch anywhere but if you want an actual powder I suggest rimmel stay matte or Makeup forever HD powder both keep your face matte all day :D

For me talc gets me oily. I use cornstarch and it sets makeup better and helps keep oil at bay much better.
