Can your hair (on your head) growth be the same as the hair on your body? I'm not sure how fast the hair on my head grows but the hair on my legs and arms grows pretty fast so are they growing at the same speed?

Hi Jennifer! All hair does not grow at the same rate.
Basically the longer-hair follicle, found on the scalp, has a longer growth phase than pubic or axillary (arm pit) hair follicles. So the hair on the scalp is shed very slowly compared to the other regions resulting in time for the hair shaft to grow longer before it is shed.
Average estimated growth rates:
Scalp hair is ~1 cm/month or 0.34 to 0.36 mm/day throughout life. Growth phase is 3-6 years.
Genetic variation in some population's gene pool- there are members with longer follicle growth phases so the population average tends to longer hair.
Eyelash/brow growth rates have been reported at 0.16 mm/day. Body hair on arms, legs, eyelashes, and eyebrows have a very short active growth phase of about 30-45 days
Pubic and axillary (armpit) hair grows almost as fast as scalp hair at 15 but slows with age and has a much faster follicle turn over time.

It'll all depend on genetics. But generally legs, arms and scalp grow about 1/3-1/2 an inch per month. Thats why when growing out your hair to get waxed, you generally have to wait 6 weeks with no shaving. Because hair needs to be 1/2-2/3 an inch long. It'll all depend on genetics though. Some people's hair grows faster in some areas.
But you'll notice less with your hair than with your leg hair. Your leg hair you (assuming) shave and so you can see that growth pretty clear since it's going from being just a root to sticking out. Whereas on your head it's hard to tell a difference of 1/2 an inch or less.

I wish my hair grew that slowly! I can shave my legs/armpits in the morning and look like Chewbacca at dinner... Hair on my head is the same way. I finished going blonde last week, and I have a solid half inch of roots right now. Oy vey.
This was really interesting information, thank you Copper.
