I tried that, but it just made my naturally curly hair straightish and VERY frizzy..

Use them on damp here with some leave in conditioner, make sure your hair is brushed out flat as well or it will be frizzy.
You can use them alone or you can do them under a blow drier. You have to play around with them and see how it works out for your hair, but damp is best.

I roll my hair most of the time and don't advise using those. The Velcro can get easily tangled and foam rollers, flex rods or hot rollers work so much better.
