If you had non virgin dark hair and dyed it a pastel color (I'm planning to do a lavender) can you please tell me how you did it? I understand this is a lengthy process so I just want to know all the details before I go through with it. At the moment, I have a chestnut colored ombre, so yeah, let's see how this works out.

My hair basically looks like my profile picture, except its up to my shoulders and the ombre has grown out to my ears now.

For a true pastel, you're going to need to lift the color in your hair as light as possible, which will not be a healthy, fun, or quick process. Once you get the areas you want to be pastel to almost white, you just dye it. Don't waste your money on pastel dyes, just get some regular dye (in your case, purple), and dilute it with conditioner. Pretty much what you mix up will be the color your hair will be. Pastel colors are a HUGE pain to upkeep though, as they fade really fast. I would go to a pro to get your hair lightened first. Tell them you're trying to achieve a color light enough to do pastel on, and they should be able to help you out. Good luck!
