I feel like the eyes are a little much (the black eyeliners a little harsh) but both look great.

Wow...she looks beautiful in both but she looks so different.

Don't like how he made her look like a completely different person, yes his makeup skills are sooo good but I feel like makeup should enhance your natural beauty rather than create a new face.

This is great :)
Lucia, I agree with you but only for everyday looks. This kind of stuff is great for plays, shows, modeling (just don't over do the eye makeup like that and it's good.) all I'm saying it depends on what you're going for. My face paintings look nothing like me but I paint on myself. No one ever guesses it me. Same with this kind of make. This is actually the kind of makeup I'm going to do for my steampunk look (except for the eye part lol)

Ah yes this is a look from Samer Khouzami. I like his makeup but this particular look is borderline drag queen.

I do not like her after. She actually looks better in her before pic. Looks like she's wearing a mask. :(

Ugh, I seriously hate this guy's work! I love dramatic makeup and theatrical makeup, but this is just wrong. He almost never varies the shapes to a client's face-it's the same overdone contour and drag queen eyes stamped on every model like a rubber mask. They look ill, like uncanny mannequins.

I'm all for the whole "no rules in makeup" but taking the exact same contour and slapping it on every model like spackle is not being a makeup artist. Just my two cents.

I agree with Emily, this person actually just came into play at the hype of people wanting to contour & highlight and in turn everyone believes this to be it which is understandable if most don't understand the true technique. He pretty much dragged her face down and I'm 100% positive this looks beyond unflattering in person. If it doesn't look that great in a pic its not that great in person.I'm hoping that this fad of capuchin masking will pass or atleast be corrected.

Also his "before and after" photos are so horrifically staged, it is downright unprofessional. His "before" images use harsh lighting, bad angles, and bump up the sharpness and contrast to make them extra unflattering, while his "after" shots use diffused light, a better pose, and a TON of Photoshop (clone, blur, contrast, etc. even the whites of the eyes) to make them into the filtered glamour shots (if you can call them that) you see on his social media.

If you're calling yourself a makeup artist and charging clients, you shouldn't have a portfolio that is more digital art than makeup.

Lmao Emily!! You are on point my friend ;-)

Who is this mystery artist? Meh..I'll just google obnoxious contouring so you ladies don't have to call anyone out ;) lol what a mess

You would think by now people would notice the lighting and actual finish result when looking at a makeup picture instead once color appears everyone is drawn to color versus application like a moth to a flame. (Ohhh colors pretty Ohhh)( highlight Ohhh bright pretty mesmerized...lol

And what's scary is that he offers classes all over the world to duplicate this same look. If an aspiring MUA wants to avoid getting editorial work taking his expensive training seminars is the route to go.

what about this?

Aug 28, 2014

Alma M.

Lol Shelley he has classes? Wow.. Hhmm why pay for a look of instagram face that is insane AND to charge extremely for that look.I have yet to understand where makeup has twisted into a mountain of concealer and two toned skin smh its a sea of the madame puppet finishes.
