Hullo all!

I have been planning to get a Belly piercing done but I am scared of infections and pain. My question is, I have been on Accutane in the past, could that affect my ability to get pierced? And how much pain is expected during getting the belly piercing and after? How difficult is the after care? Any other warnings before getting a piercing? Thank you.

I don't think Accutane would affect a piercing. I had mine done about a year ago. I didn't feel it at all. Take a deep breath in as they pierce helps. After care was to clease well with dial anti bacterial soap 2x daily and put a bandaid over the piercing while you sleep it, keeps it from moving and pulling. He told me to do it for a month but I didn't need to that long. Good luck! you're going to love it!

I can't answer the accutane question but I can the others! I've had my belly pierced twice. The pain is different for everyone, mine hurt but it wasn't too bad I mean I did it again haha. It's only a second of pain and then it's over too. After you get the piercing it'll be a little sore but it didn't bother me too much. You just won't want to knock it on anything and try not to touch it cause that can up the risk of it becoming infected. After care isn't hard just don't go swimming and only have showers and spray it with the cleaning stuff they give you. As long as you relax and take deep breaths when you get it it shouldn't be so bad. Tensing up makes it hurt more. Good luck!

Infections- After getting it pierced DO NOT play with it or touch it.. germs on your hands could infect the new piercing.
Pain- honestly everyone is different.. I feel pain so easily and I hate needles and even the thought.. but because its all the way down on my stomach I couldn't see it and so I tensed my abs just to sort of fade away the pain (I Don't know how but it helped!) the pain is more of like a 10sec pinch, but after getting it pierced is worse than during.
Aftercare- after getting it done for about a week or so, I forgot how long, its really really hard and painful to lay on your stomach.. so if your a tummy sleeper like me, then your going to have trouble! me personally I don't think you should put a bandaid or anything to cover it up, maybe for the first night or something only because you need to let your skin breathe. and covering over it won't really help.
Also, every here and there put salt water on it.. whether its infected, perfectly fine or you can start to see something happening.. salt water acts as an antibacterial liquid and prevents/helps any infections.. do this twice a day or once doesn't.matter as long as you do it frequently..
any other questions I'll be happy to answer, this is just off the top of my head and all I can remember :)

Thank you much ladies! I appreciate all your inputs. My mum is a doctor and she's easily grossed out by infections so I have to be careful, you all have definitely helped ease my inhibitions.  :)

Pain will depend on how much fat you have on your belly if you are very thin it will be more painful than if you have a lot of fat - I have a pretty pudgy tummy and I didn't even feel the piercing at all - but I didn't take good care of it and it ended up migrating out and now I have a nasty scar there so just be careful not to touch it for the first 6 months just clean it good and keep an eye on it

Use salt water on it for a while before you start to use soap. Mine was fine for the first three months but got some crusties on it after. Used salt solution and it was fine. It didn't hurt during getting it done, I didn't even know he finished piercing, but some uncomfortable feelings after wards. If you want it you should get it. It's easy to clean and something I can keep an eye on. I was scared before I did mine too. Good luck
