When I used the medication it didn't help my acne but then again I have a certain type of acne that is extremely hard to get rid of. And when I was on it I was instructed by my doctor to not eat dairy while on it so that part sucked. But if you have moderate acne it should help.

I'm going to go off on a rant here. Doxycycline is an antibiotic and will only work with bacteria based acne so hormonal acne will not work. You need to talk to your doctor instead of getting medical advice from a beauty forum this is how serious health accidents happen!

I got this from my dermatologist and it clear my face. The only problem is is that if you come off of it your face breaks out again but like ten times worse than before.

I went on it and it helped so when it cleared I stopped using it. My face broke out again and I tried to go back on it and it didn't work anymore. Now I'm on accutane and it's the best decision of my life :)

Jenna, I have spoken with my doctor but I want opinions and experience from girls who have done doxycycline
Please go rant somewhere else

To everyone else thanks for sharing you opinions I have moderate acne so I hope it works for me but if it doesn't my doctor said that the finale step is acutane.

I assume if she says she has it she talked to her doctor and got a prescription? No other way, really...

It seems fairly common. I worked at a pharmacy and filled this script all the time. Someone I knew was on it and it did work, he just had to avoid dairy and it made his stomach upset sometimes

With all due respect, I believe medication questions should not be asked on a beauty forum because you could get the wrong opinion. I believe there is a difference if asking if a certain acne treatment such as proactive or mural works versus if a prescription drug works. All I'm ask is you recognize the danger. Everybody is entitled to do what they want but of course there is always consequences.
