{sorry if this is in the wrong category}

I want to know about your view on skinny and anorexia.

some girls view anorexia as a gateway to a thin body, which is actually very unhealthy both mentally and physically.

Eating disorder shaming is even worse.

I want to know you ladies' opinions on beauty and size and more specifically, anorexia.

How skinny is too skinny?
Have you ever had any eating disorder related issues you're willing to share?

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply, I'm dieting and noticing anorexic behaviors (counting calories, skipping meals, distorted body image, etc) so I'm trying to correct my thinking.

Please tell me how skinny is overly skinny.

Thanks again!

To be honest I used to diet too but then people told me that I didnt need a diet so I stopped. but then it kind of made me realize that you are the way you are for a purpose. yes, people may like eating healthy and exercising & that stuff is really good & I congratulate you for that. but I just wanted to encourage you to be comfortable in your own skin because you are beautiful. and maybe you're thinking like that bc you care too much ab what people think. live for you and what you think not what others think.

Avery, thanks! That's really sweet of you, I'm trying to stop the dieting and start a healthy lifestyle instead of constantly trying to be perfect. :)

Thats good!! also, not judging anyone or anything, but some people get too skinny from over-exercising and skipping meals and they look a bit too skinny. plus not everything you think you may or may not have on your tummy goes away. I do many sports but there's always one part that never goes away: excess skin. & thats something that can't go away (unless you get surgery) but its good that you're trying to stop the behavior before it gets worse! :)

I think that no matter how skinny or heavier you are you're beautiful you shouldn't shame people for wanting to be thin instead telling them how you can not be a skeleton and still be beautiful and if people are struggling with eating disorders then they shouldn't be shamed or made fun of just supported and helped to get back and healthy agajn.

I was like on a diet too. But I don't think I'm anorexia because I don't vomit and stuff like that. I have 13 years old. I'm 4'11 and My weight is 73. If you want to loose weight you should do sports and eat healthy. I eat small portion every 3 hours that why my metabolism is fast. I really don't think you need to go on a diet.

Not like a diet but I wasn't eating a lot

I think people that have anorexia should think that not eating will help them. If you don't eat you'll maybe get more weight and it's definitely not healthy.

Oh yes one more thing: be sure to drink A LOT of water bc my friend had the same problem but didnt drink enough water and her body started taking away and basically turning her muscles into nutrients for her body to use. so basically her muscles are deteriorating. so drink lots of water
stay gorgeous 💋

My friend had an eating disorder and depression and anxiety so it was definitely a mixture of things but having an eating disorder is a mental illness and being able to want to stop is a good sign because it means you have some sort of control you should love your body no matter what and counting calories doesn't mean you're headed toward anorexia I count my calories too it's just when you don't eat meals because you think you're gaining too much weight or trying to burn as many calories as you eat is when it becomes a problem the best thing to do is keep a balanced diet and remind your self everyday how beautiful you are :)

I had the same problem... I'm 5'5" and weigh 102lb people tell me I'm too skinny but I love my body if you're going to diet just make sure you eat your vitamins so your body's still getting all the nutrients it needs.

I got bullied at school for 2/3 years about my weight. And I would stop eating on and off for a month or so...

I agree with Smarika. Not that I want to downplay eating disorders, I think they're horrible, but there's been a trend of skinny shaming lately. Just because someone has society's "ideal" body type doesn't mean you have to shame them for it. Some people are naturally skinny. I get all this fluff from other people about how I need to "get fat". Come on. There's this great article on it: http://bsl.io/XktNqw

To answer your question, I think skinny is too skinny when it starts to spiral out of control. I know a few girls who eat normally, have a healthy body image, and are practically TOOTHPICKS.

Love the article Shiro! I agree with her wholeheartedly :) and another thing I want to point out is that the reason I'm even this skinny is cuz of my mom, she used to be a toothpick until she had my sister and even now she's still a toothpick. So basically my point is if you naturally have thicker bones then stick thin inst going to be happening so just learn to love your body type.

These past few decades (70s-until just recently) skinny has been a very popular trend. Everywhere you looked you saw very thin women and I'm not convinced that many women are naturally that thin. Of course some women are very thin but not that many. But here recently, I see a lot of people saying "hey, this diet and exercise fad isn't that great, ya know." Health is important but skinny doesn't equal health. Body shaming isn't a good thing either so it's good to see more and more women going "yeah this is my natural body and I love it".
