Perm advise! Please tell me your experience.

So I have pin strait long thick hair and it does not hold curl but I'm obsessed with long loose waves. We learned perms today in beauty school and can't decide if I want one or not. I love curly hair but don't know if once I have it I will want it strait again if I did perm it I would use big rods to make looser curls. Has anyone permed theirs and loved it, hated it, did it damage your hair, frizz, what size rods did they use, or was it perfect? And if you have pictures of yours I would love to see?

There are actually different perm types!! It's nice because it isn't a permanent change but it lasts a few weeks.

I had a great experience with my perm. I didn't want tight curls so they used medium & large rods. I got it in December & still have quite a bit of curl. As long as you take care of it it will last.

As far as damage...
It didn't cause excessive damage. I just used deep conditioner once a week for a while & when I went for my three month trim the hairdresser said my hair looked healthy

I had my hair permed last year in October. Until January, my hair looks horrible (very poofy and curly).. But since April until now, I have loose waves and I looove them.
"If you love your perm now, you'll hate it later" :p
Oh and jt makes my hair very very dry and damaged as well..
