It cosmetics just launched sets exclusively for Ulta. The most expensive set is 98$, which isn't that bad. The brushes are amazing quality if you want to invest.

I just bought a 22 piece set from Coastal Scents for $35. They were just delivered today and I haven't had a chance to try them out yet but the reviews are great! They have an Elite set also if you want more higher end brushes :)

Maggie, that's interesting! I will have to check that out!
Personally, I have brushes from many different brands. For example the M.A.C 217 is well known for being a great brush, I would say definitely get one. I also really like their 169 Large Angled Contour brush. Some people have reported problems with shedding, but I personally have not had problems.
I would caution against going too cheap with your brushes, they do not pick up or deposit product well.
