Hello :) does anyone know places that do hair "makeovers" like MAC does makeup makeovers? I like the idea of getting makeup done for an event and promising to buy $50 worth of product instead of paying someone to do your makeup and getting no product afterwards. Anywhere I can go that'll do my hair with a promise of buying products? Thanks!

Did you know that at Mac they do your makeup for free? You have to promise to buy $50 worth of products from their store.

Lol I'm sitting here racking my brain and the only place I can think of that will do your hair and not want you to pay is like the little kiosks in the mall selling curling irons, lol! The ones that hound you down when you're walking and try to make you but their products. A couple years back they got my mom and I sucked in and curled my whole head for me. I bought the curling iron they were trying to sell in the end lmfao but you don't haaave to buy the iron (although it might be rude to have all your hair done then just walk away lol)
As for places that will do your hair in exchange for you buying products, I can't think of anywhere that does sorry!

Check out the cosmetology schools like Aveda or Paul Mitchell. You will have to pay something but it will be far cheaper than going to a traditional salon.

Shelley is 100 percent correct. The Aveda school by my house is always looking for models to practice new skills on for free or $10 tops. I've gotten cuts, highlights, brow waxes and a perm all free and the girls did a fantastic job. The same degree of fantastic I would've paid a fortune for elsewhere.

Definitely a cosmetology school as Shelley said. They would primarily just expect a tip.

Ooooh I never thought of that! My best friend is currently going to Aveda and charges like nothing to do hair :)

I get my hair sometimes done at the local college for free.. When people are training up to be hairdressers I let them do styles on me.

Colleges are best for a hair makeover if you're not wanting to shell out for a salon. With that being said, we're still professionals and the real reason we won't style you for free is because we honestly don't get paid diddly squat and have 0 benefits. So by styling your hair for free that makes us lose potential clients even if you did buy $50 worth of hair care products that money has to go toward replacing the product and bills and in the time that someone has made over your hair for free they could easily have already done $50 in services plus some. And as someone said, a percentage of what we do and sell goes to the owner of the salon if they're booth renting. At chain salons you don't even get to see any of that money.

Most stylist are on commission. if I do a blow dry for no charge that means I'm working for free and no thank you on that one. try a school. it won't be free but it will be cheap. salons don't work like make up counters, sorry :-/
