Opinions about high-end bags?

I've decided to invest in a good quality bag, such as Lauren Ralph Lauren or DKNY. But the question is, do these brands have a good quality?
My friend told me that her DKNY bag's golden things (? like zipper and those other metallic things) had started to look like worn because the golden layering was starting to get off if you know what I mean. Like in some cheap jewellery also, the golden "color" won't stay long.

So do you recommend these brands or something else? :)

If you're spending a lot of money go for something classic that won't go out of trend and goes with everything. If you use a bag everyday definitely go for it, my life motto is "Buy cheap, buy twice!"

I personally never had a proper high end bag (I do own real leather bags though), and I agree with Lauren.
Go for something classic in a colour you can combine with a lot.
Also think about the cost per use.
Buying a bag for 15 bucks that breaks after using it like 4 times is a lot more expensive than going for a bag for say 400 bucks that you carry around every day for a few years

But in case the zipper or decoration wears off you should contact the company. I think high end companies will probably help you out there. But you could clarify that before you by it in terms of warranty and what not.

Not quite high end but I recently bought a fossil bag (£130+ definitely more than I usually spend on a bag) and it really is a beautifully made bag. Leather, well put together, etc... So I do think it's worth investing in a good bag though I've always wanted a mulberry alexa but I just can't bring myself to part with that kind of cash.

And like the others said, ask about warranty (I know fossil bags/ purses come with one) and make sure it's something that won't date and you can really use.

I was gifted an Mk bag for my birthday last March. Used it a good few times but then noticed the bag started to sag at the front even though I didn't put much in it and made sure the weight was spread even between both sides. I rang the store to complain about this and was basically told it was my fault etc! I was very disappointed and made a complaint to Mk customer service and they reassured me this should not happen and to contact the store again so I did and they seemed to change their mind about what they said and offered to replace it. A week later I got my new bag and its ok now I must have gotten a faulty bag. I have gone off those bags now after the bad service I received maybe I need to try another designer bag to make up my mind on whether they are worth it or not! If you are paying a lot of money for high end bags you expect quality and great customer service! To answer your question about the golden hardware on the bags they should not ware off if its good quality gold. invest in a good quality bag that is a classic and that you will get great use from. I'd love to get a chanel bag someday :-) coach bags are really nice too.

Calvin Klein bags are to die for! A classic bag (no matter the brand) in a black or tan is worth some money! They will always be in style.

I really think that designer bags can be worth it. Like these ladies have said, its an investment and if you use it for years then its great :)
One thing I will say is be careful to not pay too much for a medicore quality. Some MK bags are amazing but some of the nasty PVC/leather mix WILL break after 4 months n you'll pay $200+. So not worth it! Same for DKNY, I'd be careful with their bags too. Always go for real leather because it ages and wears much better than plastic.

Also (sorry) a lot of designers at the moment have a 'high street' line, like MK by Micheal Kors and DKNY jeans. These brands are generally bad quality, not actually make by the designer and offer no warranty or customer service. So be careful :)

I'm a HUGE fossil fan. Awesome leather bags and aren't super expensive! I've had the same one for 2 years now and use it everyday still in great shape! You just have to take care of them! If you go leather make sure you watrprooof (do that no matter what) and use a leather conditioner! (: hope I helped!

I am currently using a all black leather Steve Madden bag & I LOVEEE it! I do see what you are talking about when you say that the gold colors (on the zipper, chain, etc. ) start too turn but I seem to be the only person who notices? Everyone else says you can't tell? Anyways I do know that Micheal Kors bags are in style right now (probably depending on where you live) I think the prices are totally worth it.

I'm so sad because I have fallen in love with a $4000 neon pink/fuscia celine bag and a $1700 lou butian bag however you spell that name :( I wish they had payment plans!! lol.
